Giving a lecture in Ankara, Director of Topkapi Museum Professor Dr. Ilber Ortayli said, " In those days Armenians were killing people at the exit of Mosques. They were starting fights. The archives of Yildiz Palace is full of these documents."
One of the most important historian in the World, Professor Doctor Ilber Ortayli gave a lecture in Ankara and evaluted 1915 events and apology campaign. Professor Dr. Ilber Ortayli said that the decision of deportation of Armenians was the idea of German Presidency of General Staff. Stating that there were Turkish ambassadors among the signatories of apology campaign, Ortayli said, "Then we need to ask to the ambassadors and diplomats who attended to this apology campaign. Why did they hired guards and drived armoured cars during the terroristic activities of Armenians. That is an interesting situation. This truth is need to be told. The events that happened in 1915 is not a genocide. Genocide is a process which requires continuity. There were no such thing in Ottoman Empire. There was not such culture.
They were calling Armenians as "loyal nation". They lived with Armenians with side by side. Is it the same with the thing that Germans did? This is something that Germans do to exculpate theirselves. Everybody does such things. Those times empire was falling and there were rebellions. First those rebellions were tolerated. Other than that there were external control in those times. German President of General Staff Bronsart Pasha adviced for Armenians to be deported. But it is told nowadays like Talat and Enver Pasha was responsible of this event. Those days Armenians were killing people at the exit of Mosques. They were starting fights. The archives of Yildiz Palace is full of these documents."
