E-mail Print PDF

Giving an interview to Ekoenergy magazin 9th President Suleyman Demirel criticized governments policy against PKK terrorist organization and the apology campaign which is started by a group of Turkish intellectuals to apologize to Armenians about 1915 events. Image

Evaluating the apology campaign, 9th President Suleyman Demirel said, "What was happened in 1915 was hot war and there was mutual warfare." Stating that there was an expectation for Turkish people to apologize about this issue, Demirel said, "The ones who appeared with saying "i apologize" will apologize in behalf of whom? And for what reason they will apologize? This is extraordinarily wrong. And that is why whole Turkey reacted against this event. Actually you can tolerate such initiatives in democratic countries but it is extraordinarily disturbing and unnecesarry."
