UN PRAISED TURKEY'S EFFORTS FOR PEACE

General Secretary of United Nations Ban Ki-Moon praised Turkey's efforts for peace in his meeting with Foreign Minister Ali Babacan. Ban Ki-Moon praised Turkey

In the meeting of Ban Ki-Moon and Foreign Minister Ali Babacan the situation in Gaza and Cyprus issue was held. In the begining of the meeting UN General Secretary Ban Ki-Moon congratulated Turkey about it's election for the UN Security Council. Ban Ki-Moon stated that Prime Minister Tayip Erdogan was among the first leaders who reacted to operations of Israel in Gaza and he said that he interviewed this with him in a phone call. In the meeting Ban Ki-Moon stated that they applaud Turkey's role for peace. Ban Ki-Moon reminded Turkey's mediation between Syria and Israel, its role in Iraq, its efforts for establishing relations with Armenia and establishing peace in Caucasus and congratulated Turkey because of its active diplomacy.
