Plans about Armenian rock band "System of a down" to represent Armenia in Eurovision with a song which would include lyrics about so called Armenian genocide is by-passed. Attitude of European Broadcasting Union about political songs and reactions of Turkey was efficient about the decision.
According to the report of Armenian journal "Agos" which is published in Istanbul, Armenian rock band "System of a down" won't represent Armenia in Eurovision song contest in Russia this year. The impresario of the group 'Velvet Hammer Management' declared that System of a Down will not represent Armenia in Eurovision 2009. Soloist of the rock band, Serzh Tankyan had stated that they will attend to Eurovision song contest if the lyric of the song will be about "Armenian genocide".
But what was the reason for the canceling for famous heavy metal group "System of a Down" to represent Armenia.
According to TRT, after Turkey had reacted about this issue highly and after it brought to the agenda of Turkish Grand National Assembly made Yerevan to change its decision about assigning "System of a Down" for representing Armenia in Eurovision song contest. Yerevan administration thougth that such step would put Armenia in an unpleasant situation while Turkey and Armenia rapproachs to each other. European Broadcasting Union declared that any country can't attend to the contest with a political song and "System of a Down" had to abandon its dreams about slandering Turkey.
