European Parliament will host to a study session which supports recognition and penal sanctioning of so called Armenian genocide.

European Armenian Federation will lead the study session in European Parliament, Brussels in 21 January 2009. In the session which will be held under the presidency of French Socialist Parliamentarian Martine Roure, European Parliament will study on the preparation of law draft for recognition and penal sanctioning of so called Armenian genocide by 27 member countries of European Union.

The written statement of European Armenian Federation said that the decision making body of EU, Council of Europe may make a legal regulation for penal sanctioning of "Armenian genocide" due to its decision on racism, ethnocentrism and similar crimes in 15 November 2008.

Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is expected to interview this issue with presidents of Politic parties which have political groups in European Parliament in his visit to European Union on 19 January. Prime Minister Erdogan is expected to point that these studies may harm the reconciliation process between Turkey and Armenia.
