Visiting China in 29 December 2008, Defence Minister of Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan had meetings with his Chinese counterpart Liang Guanglie and other Chinese officials. Liang stated that development of military relations have an important role for the improvement of relations between countries. Ohanyan thanked China for its contributions of the establishment of Armenian army and promised that relations will go on to improve. This visiting of Ohanyan is not first contact between China and Armenia in 2008. In 21 July a military committee from China visited Armenia under the lead of Chinese General Den Czyngun.
Why Chinese-Armenian relations are important?
As wants to end its loneliness with improving its relations with China, Armenia seeks for support in Nagorno Karabakh issue. In return Armenia supports the policies of China about Taiwan and Tibet. China supports Azerbaijan
