Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Babacan evaluated foreign policy of U.S. in 2009 about Turkey and Armenian issue and replied question if President elect Barack Obama will use the term

Effort of both sides is needed for a last move. We evaluate the statements of Armenian President positively with all our cautious view. Today contacts between Armenia and Azerbaijan goes on. United States, Russia and France called Azerbaijan and Armenia for solving the problems between two countries pointing that there is an occasion for that.

If we evaluate these developments considering our relations with United States, we should point that the view of U.S. and Turkey about the issue is not different. In such a negotiation period, a certain wrong move of U.S. may interrupt all these developments. In this manner, i think U.S. would not make such an unfortunate move. Points of Armenians is not formed only by Armenian administration. Opinion of Armenian diaspora, who supports Armenia externally, is also important. We are inclined to continue our relations with considering these. Dispora does not want 1915 events to be questionized. They believe in existence of a process and they do not want it to be handled in any aspect. Armenia is an isolated country and its links with its neighbours is broken. People of Armenia suffers because of this situation but policies of Armenian administration is still being directed by Armenian diaspora.
