WHY ARMENIA CHANGED ITS ATTITUDE?

E-mail Print PDF

Statements of Armenian Foreign Minister Nalbandian seems to be discussed much in Turkey. He said that Armenia is not going to make sacrifices to normalize its relations with Ankara and said that Ankara is not doing Armenia a favour by normalazing the relations. Nalbandian also said that Armenia will never stop its policy of calling for international recognition of so called Armenian genocide. Image

Holding a press conference, Armenian Foreign Minister said that Armenia will support the idea of Turkey about forming an intergovernmental commission only if Turkey agrees opening borders and establishing diplomatic relations with Armenia. This statement should be analysed due to its timing and about its meaning. Because as it is known, lately the relations between Turkey and Armenia was warm. According to some ideas the reason that lies behind of these statements is Russia or Israel. Turkey had reacted to the developments in Gaza, and criticized Tel Aviv adminsitration harshly.

It was known that Israel administration was disturbed about this issue. As 24 April gets closer it is another topic of curiosity that what will be the attitude of Jewish lobby against Armenian resolution in U.S. Russia evaluates the developments in Caucasus as "Western sourced" and does not find the reconciliation process between Turkey and Armenia favourable.
