THIS YEAR MAY BE A NEW TURNING POINT FOR TURKISH-ARMENIAN RELATIONS, SAYS BABACAN

Foreign Minister Ali Babacan stated that the year 2009 may be a new turning point for Turkish Armenian relations and said, "If a solution could be achieved in this year, that will not suprise me."

Babacan gave an interview to CNN-Turk television in Davos and reminded that Armenian and Azerbaijani Presidents is going to discuss Nagorno Karabakh conflict with OSCE Minsk Group Co-Presidents in Zurich.

About the solution of the problems between Turkey and Armenia Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Babacan said, "If a solution could be achieved in this year, that will not suprise me. I mean, the year 2009 may be a new turning point for Turkish-Armenian relations, as long as both sides shows political will in this issue. We have that political will and we see that on Armenia too but the important thing is to last that till the end and reaching the final point."
