"The US policy in the South Caucasus will hardly change after the election of Barack Obama as a President", said Armenian political scientist Levon Melik-Shahnazaryan at a press conference on Friday.

"No serious changes should be expected with Obama's election as most responsible positions in the state are occupied by the staff of Bill Clinton and Georgia's Bush's administrations. In such conditions no new president will be able to change the external political course of the country", explained the political scientist.

He said, probably, the US congress recognizes the "Armenian genocide" but "the decision will hardly be approved by the Senate and the President".

"The United States can not recognize the "Armenian genocide" as it will mean deterioration of ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan", noted Melik-Shahnazaryan.

He considers that such a partial recognition will just worsen the situation for after it the United States will try to "compensate the recognition of "genocide" with increased assistance to Turkey and Azerbaijan".
