Halacoglu attended to the panel, "What happened in 1915? What are the truths?" which is arranged in Sincan City Hall Culture Center by Kars-Ardahan-Igdir Solidarity Foundation.
Stating that any of the Turkish state that is established in the history never applied racist policies, Halacoglu said that states lived long because of their appreciative approach to the human. Halacoglu said, "In 1800's it is appeared that there are many natural resources in the lands of Ottomans such as petroleum. After that Western countries who did not have any raw material in their lands applied a policy against Ottomans, so called Armenian genocide should be evaluated considering these historical facts."
Halacoglu said, "There were 500 of France, 178 of England, 426 of U.S. and 140 of Germany's schools in Ottoman Empire till 1914 and students who were educated in those schools established Hunchakian Committee in 1881 and Dashnaktsustiun in 1889. Besides they founded many other Armenian union in Adapazari, Ankara and Yozgat."
Professor Dr. Yusuf Halacoglu said that one telegraph officer was an Armenian during the years which so called Armenian genocide took place and said, "What kind of genocide is this that an Armenian sits on the chair of most effective communication system of the country. All the rebellion activites were in the regions where telegraph cables were cut."
Stating that documents are existing which proves that Armenians served in French Army as soldiers and they fought against Ottomans, Halacoglu said that similar documents were also existing in the archives of USA. Halacoglu said, "We are aware of everything. We do know what is the purpose of Europe. You will exploit the world and you will sell African people as slaves. Then you will stand in front of us claiming that we committed a genocide. The ones who are such as to commit genocide are theirselves. They should look to themselves. Although Ottoman State threated very serious, and took necessary precautions. Ottoman Empire penalized the ones who decided for deportation. This can't be called as "bill of indictment" because the guilty people were punished. But they do not want to see that."
Halacoglu said, "Van was ruined in 1915, everything was damaged and 80 thousand people were slaughtered. They do not want to see the events that happened before the decision of deportation. 50 women threw themselves to Lake Van to save their chastity. We should build a monument for the memory of them. Today's Van is that. This Van is martyrized. We should call it as "Martyr Van".
Stating that campaign for apologizing to Armenians is wrong, Halacoglu said, "We, as Turkish nation should have these knowledge first and we should keep our morale high. They may recognize "genocide" in U.S. House of Representatives if they want, whole world may recognize so called genocide if they want, what matters is if Turkey recognizes Armenian allegations or not. We founded many states in the World, we are such a nation. Don't say "Republic of Turkey do not fall". States do fall. States are like human. Should we discriminate each other as Alawi, Sunni, Turkish, Kurdish or should we live under the same sky with unity?. This geography saw many states. Let's keep our unity. Let's leave little details, homeland and our nation is more important than anything. Do not trust Western countries. They always seek for their interests, at it was like that in whole history."
