TURKISHFORUM SENT A LETTER TO OBAMA TO INFORM HIM ABOUT ARMENIAN ISSUE

ImageDirector of "TurkishForum" Doctor Karayalp Buyukataman had contacts in Ankara embassy of United States and presented a letter to Political Affairs Under Secretary Daniel O'Grady that he wrote about the points that President Obama should be aware of for the Armenian policy of U.S.

Letter also includes copies of the documents about Armenian issue that revealed in American archives till now.

In the letter Director of the TurkishForum reminded that 24 April is getting close and he called President Obama to avoid from the expressions which would hurt Turkey in the speech that he will make.

Letter highlighted that Obama had pledged to Armenians about recognition of so called Armenian genocide and said that Obama is not a candidate anymore and such domestic policy movement would not be worthy of losing Turkey.

Letter said that Obama is not expected to be on the side of conflict but to be on the side of dialogue and peace, and He is asked to support researches and studies about this complicated historical event.

Speaking to the AA news agency after his meeting in the U.S. embassy, Buyukataman stated that they are hopeful about the initiative that they have started and said, "The only thing which can stop Obama is the truth. And these truths are the ones which stays in the archives of United States"

Stating that the initiative is found favourable by United States, Buyukataman said that American officials told him, "You showed us the things that we did not know" and he said that these documents are already existing in the archives of U.S.

Stating that one of these documents is an agreement that is signed between U.S. and Turkey in 1937, Buyukataman said that the agreement says that Turkey paid for all debt owed to American citizens with paying 1,4 million dollars, and pointed that any American Armenian cannot ask for any compensation to Turkey.

Buyukataman said that they will repeat same initiative in Washington.
