
Mersin deputy of Nationalist Movement Party Vali Behic Celik brought the claims to the Turkish Grand National Assembly. According to the claims some journalists who are among the initiators of apology campaign took money from EU funds. Mehmet Ali Birand, Mine Kirikkanat, Etyen Mahcupyan, Adalet Agaoglu ve Murat Belge are among these journalists.
In the parliamentary question that Celik asked to Minister of Justice Mehmet Ali Sahin to be answered, he quoted from a report that took place in the Azerbaijani Merkez Newspaper and said that some journalists who are among the initiators of apology campaign are claimed with taking money from EU funds.
Behic Celik said quoting from the newspaper, "It is appeared that the initiators of the apology campaign in Turkey are being oriented by the commands of EU. According to the sources in Turkey, EU transferred big amount of money to the certain people for the campaign to be operated." According to the newspaper, Ahmet Insel, Halil Berktay, Bilgi University lecturer Murat Belge, Serafettin Elci, Mehmet Ali Birand and writer Adalet Agaoglu took 107,414 Euroes each who are among the main initiators of apology campaign. Other than that 193,548 Euro to Ibrahim Kaboglu from Association in Support of Contemporary Life, 70,000 Euro to journalist Mine Kirikkanat, 449,620 Euro to Professor Atilla Yayla, 809,414 Euro to Ertugrul Kurkcu, 81,735 Euro to Mazlum-der foundation and 1,032,921 Euro to executive editor of Agos Newspaper Etyen Mahcupyan. These people mentioned operates "i apologize to my Armenian brothers" campaign and works for more people to attend to campaign.
Nationalist Movement Party deputy Celik asked to Minister of Justice Sahin if these people did take criminal action against, due to article 301 of Turkish Penal Code.
