General Scowcroft said that an Armenian bill which may be recognized by Congress has no effect practically and it is a political issue. Scowcroft said, "Armenian diaspora presses for the recognition of the resolution. If it passes from the Congress, it will give a big psychological damage to our relations with Turkey. Turks are our very reliable allies and we are dependent to the Turkey so much for logistical support to our activities in the Middle East."
Scowcroft said that Turkey suggested an independent committee of historians to decide about 1915 events with documents about the issue, and said, "If you ask to me, this is a favourable suggestion in the way of solution of the problem."
