CALL FOR EARLY ELECTIONS IN YEREVAN

Gathering in capital of Armenia, Yerevan Protestors called for an early election and release of "political prisoners".

Opposition leader and former President Levon Ter Petrosyan said that current government should change its methods and should start an open dialogue with opposition parties.

Ten people died in the clashes between police and opposition supporters last year. Police tried to stop thousands of Petrosyan supporter who were protesting the results of elections which resulted with the Presidency of Serzh Sarksyan.

More than 100 people were arrested after the events and state of emergency was imposed. Thousands of people gathering for the protest demonstration in the center of Yerevan, carried banners writing, "freedom to political prisoners".

Shouting "We will win" and "Freedom", protesters laid flowers where the events took place last year. Former President Ter Petrosyan made a speech to the crowd.

BBC reporter said that there is still split in opinion among Armenian community after the clashes that happened last year. Reporter said that Human Rights Watch and similar organizations are delivering their concerns and trying to press Armenian government.

Yerevan's mayor gave permission to the protest demonstration by a last minute decision yesterday. Presidency of Serzh Sarksyan stated that Armenian President lit candles in Church in the memory of victims of last years clash that include two policemen.
