Shuster sent letters to 434 counterpart of himself and underscored the critical role of Turkey in Iraq and Afghanistan. Deputy representing Pennsylvania said in his letter, "As a member of Committee on Armed Services and as a member of Turkish friendship group in the Congress, i want to share a report of Christian Science Monitor newspaper over Turkey which points the critical role of the Turkey for United States to achieve its purposes in Iraq and Afghanistan. Our relations with Turkey and strategical importance of Turkey for U.S. to achieve its purposes in Iraq and Afghanistan have critical importance".

The report that Christian Science Monitor published on 18 February which Shuster attached to his letter wrote that Turkey may play an important role in the withdrawal process of U.S. from Iraq. American President Barack Obama stated that American armed forces will withdraw from Iraq till 31 August 2010.
