
"I don't think these issues have to be solved through legislative action," the ambassador said. The U.S. government and political parties will make a decision on recognizing the alleged Armenian Genocide, Derse said.
Armenia and the international Armenian lobby assert that the Ottoman Empire committed genocide against ethnic Armenians living in Anatolia in 1915. In an effort to win the support of the international community, the Armenian lobby has increased its propaganda in several countries and a number of governments already now recognize so called Armenian Genocide.
"The U.S. position on these tragedies is immutable. We will see what decision the U.S. political parties and government pass," she said.
