City Mayor of Erzurum Ahmet Kucukler said that he had no information on the passage of Armenian flag from the celebration field and said that he suprised when he saw the flag of Armenia among the flags of other states. "Ceremony of day of independence of Erzurum is organized by an arrengement committy but i did not have information over such thing. I was shocked when i saw it", said he.
Reacting to the passage of Armenian flag from the ceremony field, provincial head of Republican People's Party for Erzurum, Nevzat Ozpeker said that they cannot accept such event happening and said, "The ones who made students to carry Armenian flags on the ceremony field should not be knowing what "independence" means. We cannot accept the passage of a flag which belongs to a country that massacred our grandfathers and that committed a genocide murdering our ancestors on a meaningful day as the independence of Erzurum. Responsibles of this event should pay for this arbitrary practice. This is defamation against people of Erzurum. If noone calls to account, Republican People's Party will do what it can for the pride of the people of Erzurum."
