"I think there is progress after meetings held between President Ilham Aliyev and Serj Sarkisyan in November 2008 and January," he said.

"It is feeling after these talks and meetings," Bryza said. "There are certain disputes on new appeals. The sides failed to reach common opinion but there is progress," U.S diplomat said.

Co-chairmen work and reach principal agreement on new meeting of Aliyev with Sarkisyan, Bryza said. 'The meeting on Eastern Europe will be held in Prague on May 7," he said, stressing that these meetings have great practical importance.

The conflict between two South Caucasian countries occurred in 1988 because of Armenia's territorial claims towards Azerbaijan. Nagorno Karabakh and seven adjacent regions - 20 percent of Azerbaijani territory were occupied by Armenia's military troops.

The sides reached regime of cease fire in May 1994. Up to now unsuccessful peace talks are being held under aegis of the OSCE Minsk Group and co-chairmanship of Russia, France and the USA.
