Using his authority Nevada Mayor Jim Gibbons declared 31 March as day of commemoration of Azerbaijanis because of massacres of committed by Armenians against Azerbaijani people in Baku in 1918. Armenian diaspora in United States called for this declaration to be canceled. Nevada office of Armenian National Committee of America (ANCA) sent a letter to Mayor Gibbons and called for not giving any occasion to the deniers of so called Armenian genocide.
