THE TIMES: TURKEY STRENGTHENS ITS INFLUENCE IN CAUCASUS

Pointing that Russia increased its influence in the region after invasion of Georgia, Times wrote that Turkish and Russian military forces are continously checking the Armenian border and that is the only region where NATO member Turkey and Russia encounters. Times wrote that Turkey did not intend to establish relations with Armenia after it gain its freedom and wrote that Ankara stil has concerns about Armenia's wishes over Turkey's lands. Reminding that Ankara sent wheat to Armenia in 1990s and had opened the borders in that time, newspaper wrote that Armenian population was suffering of famine in those times.

Stating that Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan will be in Yerevan in next Thursday for the next meeting of Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), The Times wrote that Turkish officials will avoid of making official statement about opening of borders but it will be opened soon.
