TURKISH JOURNALISTS ARRESTED ON ARMENIAN BORDER

Five Turkish journalists going to Armenia to learn recent conditions on the Turkish-Armenian border and to interview with Armenian people were keep under custody for two hours. Turkish journalists arrived Yerevan on Monday morning to analyze recent condition in Turkish-Armenian relations and to follow Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) meeting in Yerevan. Since Foreign Ministry of Armenia was not open because of Easter holiday, Turkish journalists went to Turkish-Armenian border. On the Malkara border check-point which is 40 km distance to Yerevan, journalists Hurriyet, Fox TV and Zaman wanted to make records at border and around the border.

But within a little while Armenian and Russian soldiers arrived the field and told that shooting is not allowed. Journalists are taken to the border post and soldiers took their testimonies. Journalists are asked that what was their purpose for coming to border, as tea and cake offered to them. Armenian and Russian officials also asked Turkish journalists that when will the Turkish border to Armenia will be opened.

Turkish journalists freed after their statements taken.
