Turkish Center for International Relations and Strategic Analysis director says the recent cabinet reshuffle in Turkey will not bring about changes in country's foreign policy.
"New Turkish foreign minister is less likely to change country's foreign policy. It is not appropriate to expect changes in Turkey-Armenia talks. In fact, these talks were designed by newly-appointed foreign minister Ahmad Davudoglu. Former minister Ali Babacan simply implemented this plan," Sinan Ogan said, Trend News reported.
Turkish President Abdullah Gul confirmed new composition of the government on May 1.
Former foreign minister Babacan will now hold a post responsible for economic issues. Babacan will be replaced by his senior assistant for international relations Ahmad Davudoglu. Davudoglu is a career politician at Turkish politics.
Turkey and Armenia have signed a "Road Map" to re-open borders.
"Babacan was not good at implementing decisions adopted. Davudoglu has run country's foreign policy behind scenes for the last 6 years. I think Azerbaijan will also attach importance to Davudoglu's personality," he said.
Davusoglu's appointment as foreign minister will strengthen Turkey's foreign policy, he added.
