
Foreign Ministry condemned recognition of so called Armenian genocide by South Australia Parliament. The statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the issue said, "we regret and condemn this decision".
The statement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Turkish people lived with Armenian, Greek and Assyrian and other minorities in Anatolia in peace for centuries and threated them with tolerance.
Foreign Affairs stated that Turkish and Armenian people suffered of the tragic events that took place during World War One, distorting the events one sidedly and defining the events as genocide is irresponsibility to the highest degree.
Statement said that local politicians of Australia obeyed to the pressure made by Armenian and Greek lobbyists which are experienced with distorting truths with hostile and racist point of views.
Statement said that the most healthy decision over the debate could be made by a joint commission of historians consisted of historians from Turkey, Armenia and a third country.
The Statement of Ministry of Foreign Affairs also said that the decision of South Australian parliament saddened Turkish people as it contradicts with the good relations between two nations that formed by wars of Gallipoli.
