AZERBAIJANI SOLDIER PERISHES IN KARABAKH FRONTLINE

The number of Azerbaijani soldier that perished because of violation of ceasefires in Karabakh frontline reached to 5 in 2009.

Violating the ceasefire, Armenian forces martyrized an Azerbaijani soldier in Karabakh frontline.

Armenian forces that are settled near Cocuk Mercanli village of Djebrail region, opened fire at Azerbaijani positions that settled at same place. Riza Mehdiyev, 19, perished as a result of Armenian fire and another soldier is wounded.

Another Azerbaijani soldier seriously wounded as a result of violation of ceasefire by Armenian forces in Agcabedi region. With the 4 soldier that died in February, the number of Azerbaijani soldier that perished because of ceasefires in Karabakh frontline reached to 5 in 2009.

Conflict between two states started in 1988 and it turned into a war after countries gained their independence. Parties signed Bishkek agreement in 1994. The occupation of 20 percent of Azerbaijani land by Armenian forces still continues.
