Following the collapse of USSR, member countries declared their independence and gathered under the roof of United Nations. Azerbaijan and Armenia started to establish their own policy as independent countries too. With the Russian support, Armenia occupied Azerbaijani territories and caused one million Azerbaijani to leave their homeland. The y committed a genocide during the exile of Azerbaijani people from Karabakh and seven surrounding regions and they massacred thousands of them. Azerbaijani refugees stil live in tents near Baku. USA and EU does not see this or they do not want to. State of Armenia does not agree with any negotiation even the events took place as they are told. Because USA or EU does not support Azerbaijani people in their case nor they do not make any diplomatical effort to critize Armenia over occupation of Azerbaijani land. And all these encourages Armenia on its policy of continuing occupation.
Turkey closed its borders to Armenia as a result of occupation of Azerbaijani land by Armenia. As Turkish PM stated, the occupation of Upper Karabakh is a reason and closure of Armenian border is a result. Opening of Armenia border is not possible unless end of invasion in Karabakh. Turkey and Azerbaijan is bounded to each other with same blood. Because of that Turkey cannot ignore injustice and cruelity against Azerbaijan. On the other hand economical cooperation between Turkey and Azerbaijan is very strong too.
Cooperating with Russian Army in Eastern Anatolia, during World War One Armenians massacred Muslim Turkish and Kurdish people in the region. As a result of this agression, Ottoman government decided deportation of Armenians to another region of Ottoman Empire. Pointing death of several Armenians during the deportation, Armenian diaspora claims that Turkey committed a genocide against Armenians. With groundless claims of genocide, they established their policy over lies and succeeded to form a stance against Turkey in international area. Today no western country shows a stance against occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenian forces. They ignore suffering of one million Azeri refugee who live in tents and carriages near Baku. But insted they prefer to press Turkey to open its borders with Armenia.
If Armenia ends occupation of Azerbaijani lands, Turkey will end the isolation. But Armenians insist on their agression against Azerbaijan and they also continue with claims of genocide as an anti-Turkey policy. Armenian diaspora do whatever it can to just hear the word "genocide
