There is a dangerous trap for Turkey in the issue of its relations with Armenia. Armenian President Sarksyan states that the relations of Armenia with Turkey are normalizing. But another they he says that they will never stop the efforts for international recognition of so called Armenian genocide and he does not forget to add that they will never withdraw from Nagorno Karabakh.
By Nabucco project (the project for delivering Azerbaijani and Turcoman natural gas to European countries by a pipeline passing through Turkey), EU wants to reduce its energy dependence to Russia. Azerbaijan wants to benefit from the Nabucco project as a politic card against Turkey and Eu due to occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh. Geo-strategical balances may change in Caucasus. Closer ties with Russia, would mean increase in Russian influence for Azerbaijan. In this context, Prime Minister Erdogan called Aliyev to be attentive. Prime Minister Erdogan numerously repeated that opening of Turkish borders with Armenia is connected to the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh problem and we certainly will not open borders to Armenia unless Nagorno Karabakh conflict is resolved. But even Prime Minister Erdogan and other high level Turkish officials repeated the same countless times, some secret force burried seeds of suspect between Azerbaijan and Turkey.
Russian intelligence had given falsified information to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. Statements of Turkey towards healing the relations with Azerbaijan was being terminated. Turkish and Armenian diplomats came together and discussed ways of solution, but non of them was contradicting to the interest of Azerbaijan. Turkey has a perspective towards future of the region. Turkey can never ignore Caucasus, Caspian region and Middle Asian Turkish States and Azerbaijan is Turkey?s gate to East.
Obviously some circles does not desire a solution for the existing conflicts in the region, they at least want current status of the region be kept. Russian, Armenian and Persian cooperation continues in the Caucasus and it seems to be continued.
