The Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) has once again condemned the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, adopting three resolutions at the 36th conference of the Foreign Ministers of the Organization in Damascus.

On May 25 at the final meeting of the OIC, were adopted resolutions on the Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan; on economic assistance to Azerbaijan in connection with the aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan; on destruction of the Islamic cultural and historical monuments in Azerbaijan’s territories occupied as a result of Armenian aggression against the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan since 1992, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7 surrounding districts. Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire agreement in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group — Russia, France, and the U.S. — are currently holding the peace negotiations.

Azerbaijan was represented at the meeting by the delegation headed by the Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
