State Senate of California passed the resolution recognizing 1915 events as Armenian genocide.
According to the info given by American Armenian Congress, resolution that recognizes so called Armenian genocide is presented to the Senate by Senator Mark Uayland. Making a statement, Director of West Office of American Armenian Congress Yegis Keshishyan said, "American Armenian Congress hails recognition of resolution and Senator Uayland. California with its representatives respects to human rights and struggles for prevention of genocides that may take place in future".
The resolution will be signed by California Mayor Arnold Schwardzeneger afterwards.
The resolution that recognizes 1915 events as a genocide, also supposes attachment of so called Armenian genocide to the curriculum in the schools of California.
