TURKISH, AMERICAN FMS DISCUSSED ARMENIAN ISSUE

Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu met with U.S. Foreign Minister Hillary Clinton in Washington. The meeting lasted half an hour longer than it was planned. Ministers held a joint press conference after the meeting.

Clinton stressed that U.S. supports the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia. She said, “Turkey and Armenia decided for a process of normalization. I understand that this process is not easy and it requires patience. But we did not see any off track steps. We are encouraging parties to walk on this path. The process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia. And Turkey is decisive about this issue.”

Ahmet Davutoglu also pointed that Turkey is decisive about normalization of its relations with Armenia.

In the meeting, Foreign Ministers discussed improvement of the relations and cooperation between Turkey and U.S., regional issues and energy sources.

Clinton stated that U.S. supports Turkey“s fight against terrorist organization PKK and Turkey”s EU membership. Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that he is contented about the fact that Turkey and U.S. share same opinion over many foreign policy issues.
