The task of the OSCE Minsk Group is to freeze the Karabakh issue to help Armenia to consolidate in the occupied Nagorno-Karabakh, said Fikret Sadigov, professor at the Western University and political scientist, speaking at the third meeting of the club for political discussion on the theme: “The focus of the Iranian-Azerbaijani relations,” held on Wednesday, according to Novosti-Azerbaijan.

“In this light the lack of real progress in the Karabakh settlement after the St. Petersburg meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia is not a surprise,” said F. Sadigov.

However, F. Sadigov suggests that the region is in anticipation of the adoption of some important decisions on NK.

“There are agreements, scripts on the development of future events hidden from the public behind the ongoing negotiations. It is clear that we are in anticipation of new agreements,” noted the political scientist.

Sadykhov named the new Washington administration’s statements regarding Azerbaijan to be a positive fact of the recent geopolitical processes.

“I consider the statement of US president Barack Obama in which he spoke for Turkey’s EU membership to be also positive,” concluded he.
