“As for consideration of the Karabakh issue in the UN Security Council, Azerbaijan always welcomed consideration of the conflict within the framework of international community, especially in the UN framework,” said spokesman for Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Elkhan Polukhov, commenting on the statement of Turkish Foreign Ministry Ahmed Davudoghlu that “Ankara supports consideration of the Karabakh issue in the UN Security Council.”

“We maintain regular contacts with the Turkish side on the Karabakh conflict settlement, these ties are maintained in terms of the ongoing process,” noted he.

Notably, Turkey has been the chair of the UN Security Council since June 1. The chairmanship in the UN Security Council passed from Russia to Turkey and will continue within a month. On July 1 Turkey will pass its powers to Uganda.
