United States officially applied to Ankara for using Turkish territory in the process of withdrawal from Iraq which it occupied in 2003. Ankara ambassador of United States James Jeffrey stated that they started negotiating with Turkish officials over usage of Turkish territory during the process of withdrawal of American forces from Iraq. Replying the questions of journalists, Jeffrey touched several issues.

Voicing support for negotiations towards normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, American ambassador replied the question asking whether he expects normalization of relations untill end of this year, as “Yes i do expect.” About the issue of research of oil in Mediterranien by Cypriot Greeks, U.S. ambassador said, “Actually this is not a process that U.S. officials are included. Companies are having agreements by theirselves in all over the world.”
