Syrian President Beshar Esad said that the biggest obstacle for development of economical relations between Syria and Armenia is lack of a straight land corridor over Turkey due to closed borders. Making an official visit to Armenia, Syrian President Beshar Esad met with Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan. Leaders discussed normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia besides other issues.

Esad said, “Ankara-Yerevan relations is an issue that we focused on with President Sarksyan. Sarksyan asked how could the relations between Turkey and Armenia be developed. Because Turkey and Syria are close allies.”

Stating that the obstacles between Syria and Armenia should be removed for development of relations, Esad said that two countries should have a joint vision. Esad also said that straight flights should be started between two countries.
