Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said that he is still hopeful for normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia although Turkish officials assume resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a precondition.

Nalbandian refuted the claims about establishment of a joint historians commission for making researches over 1915 events. The idea was voiced by U.S. Deputy Foreign Minister Philip Gordon.

According to the report of Armenian Reporter, visiting Armenia, Sheikh of United Arab Emirates Bin Zayed Eh Nahayan held a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian. Replying the questions of journalists, Nalbandian said, “I am still hopeful for normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia although Turkish officials assume resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict as a precondition.”

When journalists reminded the statements of U.S. Deputy Foreign Minister Philip Gordon claiming that Turkey and Armenia are planning for establishment of a joint historians committee for making researches over 1915 events, Nalbandian said, “There is no such thing. Yes, we support establishment of a committee. But that should be an intergovernmental committee that should deal with the problems between two countries.”
