European Armenian Organizations published a joint notice and slammed U. S. Deputy Foreign Minister Philip Gordon who backs establishment of a joint historians committee by Turkey and Armenia for making researches over disputed 1915 events. According to European Armenians, Gordon’s attitude was pro-Turkish. The report that is published by European Armenian Organizations said, “We think that it is not the feature of U.S. President to determine on the methods for resolving historical disputes.” European Armenian Organizations claimed that the “truth” of so called Armenian genocide already proved by historians 30 years ago. They said, “Scientists should be free on their studies. A committee that would be established by governments would be a mistake in that context.”

Stating that approximately 30,000 Turkish people apologized to Armenians due to so called Armenian genocide, Armenian organizations called for attention to the existence of Turkish historians such as Taner Akçam who calls 1915 events as “genocide.” The report said, “In the light of all these, U. S. President Barack Obama should be against establishment of a joint historians committee.”

Armenian organizations who published the joint statement said, “The only strategy for Obama which does not conflict with the interests of Armenian people is; assisting for Turkey’s recognition of the truth of „genocide“ and encouraging parties for normalization of relations.”
