Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutolu, who represented Turkey at a foreign ministerial meeting of the 56-nation Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) hosted on the Greek island of Corfu, had a number of bilateral meetings with his counterparts on Sunday.

Held under heavy security in Corfu, the informal meeting opened with a dinner on Saturday night. It was preceded by the first NATO-Russia foreign ministers’ meeting since the alliance broke off ties after Russia’s war in Georgia last summer. The talks resulted in an agreement to resume military ties suspended since the Georgia war.

Davutoglu, meanwhile, had separate talks with EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana and Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov as of Sunday morning, the Anatolia news agency reported.

Davuto“lu was also expected to have bilateral talks with British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, US Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg and Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos later on Sunday, Anatolia reported.

Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis said last week that she intended to raise the issue of military flights over the Aegean during a meeting with Davutoglu, which she planned to have on the sidelines of the OSCE meeting. Ankara, meanwhile, confirmed on Wednesday that a bilateral meeting between Bakoyannis and Davutoglu was scheduled, while, however, declining to confirm media reports that Davutoglu would meet with his Armenian counterpart, Edward Nalbandian, on the sidelines of the same meeting.
