
According to the report of Russian News Agency Ria Novosti, Azerbaijani expert Ilgar Velizade suggested Moscow to be guarantor for the future status of the Nagorno Karabakh. Azerbaijani expert said that the agreement between USSR and Turkey in 1921 over Nakhichevan.
Talking to Cihan news agency, Velizade said, “Autonomous status of Nakhichevan has been a point of disagreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia in those years. Turkey became a part of the activity and became the guarantor for the status of Nakhichevan. And that was stated in the agreement.”
Azerbaijani expert said that it will be for benefit of Ankara if Russia become guarantor for the future status of Nagorno-Karabakh. Velizade said, “In case such thing happens, therefore Turkey can establish relations with Armenia without any precondition. Except for the codition related to the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Therefore, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Armenia can be the political play makers in the Caucasus region.
Azerbaijani expert said that the recent natural gas agreement between Azerbaijan and Russia is happened because of Azerbaijan’s need of support in the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Velizade said, “The conflict between Russia and Georgia affects the region negatively. Noone wants another war. And Azerbaijan seeking for Russia’s support. A little pressure from Moscow to Yerevan may facilitate the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.”
