"TURKEY, RUSSIA PLAY ACTIVE ROLE IN SETTLEMENT OF SCAUCASUS CONFLICTS"

Turkey and Russia play An active role in resolving conflicts in the South Caucasus, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint news conference with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davudoglu, Vest TV channel reported.

“Turkey and Russia are discussing the situation in the Caucasus and make comprehensive proposals to resolve the conflicts in Iraq and throughout the Middle East,” Lavrov said.

During Davudoglu’s Moscow visit, Russia and Turkey have also discussed the future of the Turkish initiative to establish the “Caucasus Security & Stability Platform,” which Russia supports, the minister said.

In mid-September 2008, Russia and Turkey launched a plan to create the “Caucasus Security & Stability Platform” whose aim has become Turkey’s and Russia’s strive for the most rapid resolution of territorial conflicts in the Caucasus between Armenia and Turkey, and between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
