Russian televizion program producer Maksim Shevchenko said that Turkey is a strong country and it is useless to press Turkey in the issue of so called Armenian genocide. To the question of Armenian ArmInfo news agency, “Germany recognized holocaust. And why doesn’t Turkey follow the same example and recognize Armenian genocide?,” Russian expert Shevchenko said, “First of all, Germany lost World War II. Germany was in such a situation that ally forces could do anything they want against Berlin. When it comes to Turkey, occupation or defeat is not matter of discussion. So when you are mentioning about Turkey, you should be watching your words. It is not true to compare Turkey with Germany.”

Stating that Turkey defended her political independence and foreign armies cannot perform an enforcement to Turkey, Shevchenko said, “Turks chosed the format they want by theirselves. Turkey is never in the position of Germany. Because Turkey is a strong country and its army is one of the strongest army in the world. You cannot vaccinate Germany’s mood to Turkey. If you ask to me, that policy is a dead end.”

Shevchenko said that discussions painful events in the history should be held in a different way. Russian expert said, “Here, tragic events, death, war and hate could be matter of discussion. Then these issues could be overcame. But pressing Turkey about these issues is meaningless. During the war, totally different factors are in act, today there isn’t war.”
