Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Presidency Spokesman Hasan Ercakica called Head of Greek Populated Southern Cyprus Dimitris Hristofyas to focus on process of negotiations. Criticizing Hristofyas because of his statements about Turkey’s Armenia policy, Ercakica said that Leader of Southern Cyprus should focus on negotiations for resolution of Cyprus problem.

Appreciating attitude of Turkey about keeping its ports closed to Southern Cypriot ships and planes unless the isolation of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus is ended, Presidency Spokesman also called for attention to the statements of U.S. Deputy Foreign Minister Philip Gordon telling that issue of opening of Turkish ports to Cypriot ships can be held after resolution of Cyprus problem.

Spokesman of Presidency of Nothern Cyprus Turkish Republic stated that comprehensive negotiations for resolution of Cyprus problem is being continued. He adviced Cypriot Greek officials to focus on negotiation process instead intervening Turkey-Armenia relations.

On the other hand, Foreign Minister Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Huseyin Ozugurgun stated that the problem in Cyprus is not the existence of Turkish military but occupation of the title of “Cyprus Republic” by Greek Populated Southern Cyprus since 46 years.

In his written statement, Foreign Minister said that statements of Greek Cypriot Leader Dimitris Hristofyas during his visit to Armenia are not acceptible.
