ESAD, ALIYEV DISCUSSED KARABAKH PROBLEM

Syrian President Beshar Esad and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met in Baku. In the meeting, parties discussed problems in Middle East and Caucasus besides the relations between Syria and Azerbaijan.

Beshar Esad said that they find Azerbaijani approach to the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh problem favourable. In the written statement that is made after the meeting between two Presidents, Esad says, “I informed President Aliyev about the peace process in the Middle East. But this process is not being successful since 1990 because of Israel’s irreconcilable attitude.”

SANA reported that the relations between Syria and Azerbaijan exists since 600 years and wrote that Hafiz Esad and Haydar Aliyev shared important roles towards development of relations between Syria and Azerbaijan.

Syrian President Beshar Esad had visited Armenia last week and discussed Turkish-Armenian relations with Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan.
