Obliged to pay 1 Lira of compensation to President Abdullah Gul, Republican People’s Party (CHP) Parliamentarian Canan Aritman stated that she will carry the issue to European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
Republican People’s Party Parliamentarian evaluated the justified decision of the court saying, “The court performed the duty of justifying the President. This justified decision is not suitable for Turkey, the state of law. This decision and justified decision are certainly political. It says that statement of ethnic roots is not guilt but then evaluates my statements as fault because they were about President. I will carry the suit to European Court of Human Rights.”
CHP deputy Canan Aritman had criticized President Abdullah Gul’s approach to “I apologize to my Armenian brothers” campaign and claimed that President Gul is not performing his duty fairly. She had claimed that President Gul’s approach to the Armenian apology campiagn is because his mother is an Armenian. President Gul had sued CHP deputy over her claims and Ankara 2nd Court of Criminal Jurisdiction obliged Aritman to pay 1 Lira of compensation to President Gul.
