KAYSERI GETTING PREPARED FOR ARMENIA GAME

Kayseri is getting prepared for the return game between national football teams of Turkey and Armenia. Stadium will be decorated with 70,000 flowers and families in Kayseri will host Armenian fans in their homes.

The return game of the match that is played in Armenia’s capital Yerevan last year, which Presidents of two country watched together, will be played in Kayseri Kadir Has Stadium in October. Newly built Kadir Has Stadium is in compliance with european standards and it will be decorated with flowers for the match between Turkish and Armenian national teams.

Struggling to get through to attend to World Cup 2010, Turkey will play its last match in the qualification group with Armenia on October 14. It is stated that 70,000 flowers will be used to decorate the stadium of 33,000 seat capacity. President of Turkish Florists Cooperative Mustafa Erengul said, “Firstly, we will decorate the stadium like a bride. We will present roses to women audience and carnations for men. We will express our love and tolerance in this way.”

An organization that provides free accomodation for travellers, Servas Federation started a campaing for providing accomodation for Armenian fans who will come to Kayseri to watch the soccer game. Turkey coordinator of the organization, Ozge Karadenizli said, “Other than providin accomodation, we want to provide occasion for Turkish and Armenian people to know each other.”

First leg of the Turkey-Armenia match was played in Yerevan on September 6 and Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan watched the game together. Turkey was found worthy for World Fair Play award because of the peace initiative through football.
