An Armenian soldier crossing to Azerbaijani frontline detained by Azerbaijani forces. In a conflict that took place at Azerbaijani-Georgian border caused one to die and a soldier to get wounded.

According to the report of Azerbaijani Pres Agency, an armed conflict took place between Azerbaijani soldiers and a group that was trying to trespass Azerbaijani borders, at Azerbaijani-Georgian border.

One of the trespassers died and an Azerbaijani soldier wounded as a result of the armed conflict at Gubek mountains at Azerbaijani-Georgian border.Azerbaijani army initiated an operation to capture 5 fugitive.

On the other hand, an Armenian military man was captured in the territory of Gabaday region on contact line of Armenian-Azerbaijani troops on July 15.

Azerbaijani media wrote that Armenian soldier surrendered to Azerbaijan because of being tortured in Armenian military. According to the Armenian soldier, Karen Norigovich Harutunian, he could not stand tortures of his colleagues and decided to leave the service.

Azerbaijani officials stated that the first thing that Armenian soldier made was asking for food.

5 Armenian soldiers had turned theirselves in by voluntarily passing to Azerbaijani lands, on February 28 and June 1.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan lost all of Nagorno-Karabakh except for Shusha and Khojali in December 1991. In 1992—93, Armenian armed forces occupied Shusha, Khojali and 7 districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan and Armenia signed a ceasefire in 1994. The co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group — Russia, France, and the U.S. — are currently holding the peace negotiations.
