Holding a visit to Yerevan, European Union Term President and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt stated that opening of the state borders between Turkey and Armenia will be towards Armenia’s interests.

Holding a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, European Union Term President and Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt said that EU is ready to support Armenia in the issue of enforcement of reforms. Bildt said,

“We are ready for supporting Armenia on regional security issues and for supporting the efforts of activities of OSCE Minsk Group. And about the relations between Turkey and Armenia, we think that opening of state borders between Turkey and Armenia will be towards interests of Armenia.”

Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said, “The recent allegations over the process of settlement of Karabakh conflict are groundless.” He said that these reports are nothing more than trying to fish in troubled waters. According to the report of Public Radio of Armenia, Nalbandian stated that Armenia did not officially approved Madrid princpiles and stated that Azerbaijani and Armenian Presidents did not discuss withdrawal of Armenian forces from surrounding regions of Nagorno-Karabakh in their meeting in Moscow.
