Turkish foundations in United States to whom President Abdullah Gul allocate responsibility for increasing the volume of trade between Turkey and United States, saved 2 billion dollars of annual exportation of Turkey to State of California by preventing a pro-Armenian resolution to be passed from the state parliament.

The resolution that is presented to the state parliament of California by Democrat Party representative Paul Krekorian targets to ban American companies to trade with Turkish companies due to the claims of so called Armenian genocide. Efforts of Turkish foundations in United States prevented the pro-Armenian resolution to be discussed at general assembly last month. And finally Turkish diaspora in United States sued the resolution claiming that the resolution is against the constitutional law and they won the case. Pro-Armenian resolution that would ban American companies in California to trade with Turkish companies is out of agenda forever.

Turkish American Legal Defence Fund (TALDF) which is supported by non-governmental organizations like Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA) and Turkish American Business Academy (TABA) won the case which was brought to lawsuit against pro-Armenian resolution that was brought to state parliament of California. By the decision of the court, pro-Armenian resolution is shelved forever.

TABA Board Chairman, Businessman Ugur Terzioglu stated that Armenians came with an absurd demand and court rejected their proposal. He said that so called Armenian genocide would be recognized in a roundabout way if this resolution was passed from the senate.

Terzioglu said, “Our President Abdullah Gul invited us and allocated us responsibility of increasing the volume of trade between Turkey and United States. We are aiming to increase the trade to 30—40 billion dollars. As we are dealing with such business, we also had to deal with this resolution problem. ATAA really contributed much in this case. As businessmen, we believe that these troubles will come to an end if Turkey and Armenia normalizes the relations between them. Because, we are paying millions to the advocates for dealing such problems, and Americans just do not care about these issues.”

The decision of the court also caused relief among the companies like BP, Shell, AXA and Nestle which trade with Turkey since 100 years.
