Settling of Turkish forces to Nagorno-Karabakh has came to agenda during the meeting of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan in Moscow which lasted about 3,5 hours. In the meeting, Azerbaijani President suggested settling Turkish peacekeeping forces to Kubatlı, Zengilan, Agdam, Cebrail ve Fuzuli regions from which Armenian military will withdraw if parties can reach an agreement.
Contradicting to the proposal of Azerbaijani President, Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan insisted on settling of Russian peacekeeping forces and demanded independence of Nagorno-Karabakh for withdrawal of Armenian forces from 5 regions. Meantime Aliyev wanted the occupation in Azerbaijani land to be ended and 800,000 Azerbaijani refugee to return their homes.
Aliyev wanted peacekeeping forces that will be settled to the disputed region to include Turkish forces. Turkey should leave the American route towards resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and towards opening of borders between Turkey and Armenia. Because Turkey is a big power by itself too. Turkish officials should realize that strength and they should behave appropriate to that force. Republic of Turkey should leave the role that is allocated by United States to it during the years of cold war.
Therefore, Turkey should take the intitiative in the process of resettlement of Nagorno-Karabakh problem and it should be one of the guarantors of the conflict. Turkey should be more active in the process for Azerbaijan as Russia does for Armenia. Turkey certainly should take part in the peacekeeping forces that will be settled to Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions and Turkish Army should start joint exercises with Azerbaijani Army.
