Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan stated that Armenia wants to see progress before the Turkey match.

Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan stated that he wants significant progress before he will agree to attend the World Cup qualifying game in Turkey between Turkish and Armenian national teams. He said that he will not go to Turkey unless the borders are opened.

Holding a joint press conference with Serbian President Boris Tadic, Sarksyan said, “I will visit Turkey if we will have an open border or be at threshold of de-isolation of Armenia.” He said, “We are hoping for our Turkish collegues to make constructive steps.”

On the other hand, U.S. Co-chair of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group, which is established for seeking a solution to long standing Karabakh-Conflict, Matthew Bryza stated that the process of rapprochement between Turkey and Armenia slowed down. Bryza said, “Just a few months ago i was sure that the relations between Turkey and Armenia will be developed and the dispute of Nagorno-Karabakh will be solved. But developments slowed down.”
