Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan stated that some political circles in Turkey tries to connect the process of normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia, and the resettlement of Karabakh conflict to each other. He said that Armenia will not accept negotiating with Turkey when there are preconditions.

According to the report of Russian Itar Tass Agency, Armenian President Serzh Sarksyan said that Armenia will reject any precondition of Turkey towards normalization of the relations with Armenia.

Sarksyan stated that they extended their hand to Turkey despite historical problems, and despite the problems about so called Armenian genocide. He said, “Despite the difficult path we proposed to the Turkish administration to establish relations without preconditions, to open borders and then to negotiate necessary issues.”

Reminding that Turkey and Armenia negotiated for a year and they signed two documents, Sarksyan said, “But after that certain political circles in Turkey started to propose preconditions and try to link establishment of relations between Turkey and Armenia with the process of resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Such steps causing a back reaction. We realize that Turkey is a powerful state and we know about its role and influence in the region and in the world. But we are and independent state and we will not accept any preconditions in the negotiations for normalization of relations.”
